About the role

As we continue to grow, we are seeking a dedicated Global Tech Lead to join our team. We’re looking for someone with an eye for detail & the desire to create innovative solutions for our customers and suppliers.

We’re a small team of passionate people who love technology & food. We’re open to ideas & are always improving our practices and the tech we use so we’re looking for someone who’s eager to have constant input in both.

Our ideal candidate is someone with a strong technical background who will be able to establish a technical vision, resolve technical disagreements and manage the technical quality of team deliverables. We are looking for a foodie passionate about tech whose skills are at the intersection between leadership, architecture & development.


Responsibilities

  • Provide clarification of technical requirements and the translation of these requirements into technical design
  • Collaborating with the team to identify & fix technical issues around engineering tasks & product releases
  • Ensuring the team uses appropriate engineering practices & is seeking continual improvement
  • Strive for engineering & operational excellence by inspiring your teams to challenge the status quo and implement scalable processes across the board
  • Lead and mentor development team members to become the next generation of leaders through pair programming and regular code reviews
  • Taking a data-driven approach to defining, planning & delivering cross-functional projects & tracking their impact
  • Develop high quality code that can function with existing code, patterns and architectural techniques
  • Effectively utilise development best practices such as CI/CD
  • Active participation in team agile development practices
  • Ensure appropriate quality is maintained through practices such as unit testing
  • Design systems that can be managed effectively in a production environment
  • Take ownership of critical business KPIs & tech roadmap

You are

  • A strong problem-solver with the ability to think critically & creatively
  • Comfortable leading a team of diverse people working in different time zones including Product Owners, Developer Operations, Developers, Design, UX & Quality Assurance
  • Driven to learn new skills & work with new technologies
  • Passionate about delivering quality products that create amazing experiences
  • Experienced managing multiple projects & balancing priorities
  • You enjoy the process of zooming in and out to solve both engineering and organization challenges
  • A great communicator, both written & verbal
  • You have 5-7 years’ experience in software development, software engineering, programming or a computer science-related field, of which 3+ leading tech teams in (insert company type or examples)

Essential skills & experience

  • Experience leading agile and lean software engineering teams across multiple countries and timezones
  • Modern API technologies & microservices in both greenfield projects and existing applications
  • Excellent understanding of fundamental engineering concepts - SOLID principles, clean code, design patterns, testing
  • In-depth knowledge of scalable SaaS cloud solution services such as AWS, GCP or Azure
  • Experience with RDBMS databases (MySQL, MSSQL, Postgres, etc) and NoSQL solutions (Redis, DynamoDb, etc.)
  • Experience with automated deployments (CI/CD)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of C# in a .Net 5.0 environment.
  • Expertise in Node.js (with either JavaScript or Typescript)
  • Good experience with unit testing frameworks such as Jest

Nice to have

  • Exposure to Docker in production (Kubernetes, EKS)
  • Exposure to modern DevOps practices - QA Automation, Monitoring, Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
  • Exposure to automated deployments (CI/CD)
  • Experience implementing machine learning algorithms in to real-world environments
